Frostbite Half Marathon and Jackson Hamfest

There are a couple of big events coming up in the next few weeks for W5YD. On Saturday, Jan. 23rd is the Frostbite Half Marathon. This race starts in Pheba, MS and ends at the Oktibbeha County Hospital. The race starts at Noon and will probably last about 4 hours. W5YD Memebers working the race are meeting at the McDonald's next to Strangebrew at about 8:00am and will head out to the hospital after that for equipment setup and instructions for all of the new memebers. Anyone not involved in the equpiment setup needs to be on-site no later than 10:30am to get your locations and have time to get out there.

For those of you that don't know where the hospital is, here is the map:

On the heels of the marathon is the Jackson Hamfest the following Saturday, Jan. 30th. This is held on the Mississippi State Fairgrounds in Jackson, MS. The doors open at 8:00am. This is also the same time that the licensing sessions will begin. Meet-up instructions and locations for the caravan down to Jackson will be sent out to the mailing list sometime next week.

Repeater Update

The repeater has been put back onto the air temporarily while the MARC repeater is being repaired. It is still on frequency 146.805 negative offset, no tone.

Useful Documents

A few useful files have been uploaded to the site, and links have been placed on the (you guessed it) Links page. One of the files is a directory of local repeaters for anyone that would like to use it.
